Great success in recovery of looted national wealth, Rs 25 billion deposited in treasury
LAHORE: The Punjab government has achieved great success on the issue of return of looted national wealth. The provisional government has taken back Rs 25 billion from the bureaucracy and contractors involved in bribery and corruption and deposited it in the national treasury. The big companies that have been consuming billions of rupees by illegal approaches have been blacklisted forever in Punjab.
Public Accounts Committee Punjab Chairman Yawar Bukhari has revealed that in the audit, senior government officials were found involved in taking bribes, commissions and corruption in various government projects. While Prime Minister Imran Khan has also been informed of this great success.
Yawar Bukhari said that this amount was recovered within only 14 months. He said If the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of the Provincial Assembly had not been canceled, the recovery could have been up to Rs. 40 billion. Gaya, the contractors involved and their companies have been blacklisted forever, Yawar emphasized.
