Hearing to declare Nawaz Sharif a fugitive postponed till Dec 2

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has adjourned the process of declaring Nawaz Sharif a fugitive till December 2. The court said that the statements of the officers who sent Nawaz Sharif’s advertisements to the UK and pasted them in Jati Umra would be recorded.

A division bench of IHC heard the appeals against the sentences in Azizia and Avonfield references. Nawaz Sharif did not appear before the court despite being given a last chance.

During the hearing, Foreign Office Director Europe Mubashir Khan submitted a report to the court on Nawaz Sharif’s advertisement summons and compliance. The report said that Nawaz Sharif was fully aware of the case being heard in the court. News related to advertisements were circulated in print and electronic media but the former prime minister deliberately did not appear before the court.

The Additional Attorney General said that two reports have also been submitted to the court in compliance with the court order regarding advertisements in newspapers. NAB officials requested that the statements of FIA and Foreign Ministry officials be recorded. The court adjourned the hearing till December 2, ordering the recording of witness statements.
