SRINAGAR: A brutal lockdown has been going on for the last 13 months in Jammu and Kashmir occupied by Narendra Modi’s fascist government, during which brutal Indian forces extrajudicially killed 237 innocent Kashmiris.
According to the Kashmir Media Service’s investigative report on the completion of 13 months of Indian siege, the continuous military siege imposed on Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir since August 5 last year has turned the lives of Kashmiris into hell. Indian troops martyred 237 Kashmiris, including five women, during this period.
The report revealed that most of them were martyred by Indian troops in fake encounters in the name of siege and search operations. After arresting the youths from their homes, they are killed during fake encounters and in order to cover up this heinous crime, an attempt is made to label innocent Kashmiris as Mujahids or operatives of Mujahid organizations.
The report said that as a result of the testimonies that took place during the last 13 months, nine Kashmiri women became widows and 22 children became orphans. Since August 5, 2019, 1,482 people have been seriously injured in the brutal use of force against peaceful protesters in Kashmir.
The brutal Indian security forces crossed all limits of cruelty and barbarism, destroying 954 homes and buildings of civilians, desecrating 89 women and arresting 13,936 people, including women and boys, during the siege and search operations.
The lives of Kashmiris have been in dire straits since the abolition of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. Despite all the atrocities and brutality, the voice of Kashmiris’ freedom cannot be silenced at all.
The report pointed out that the whole of Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into an open jail, with senior Hurriyat leaders Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under constant house arrest in their homes in Srinagar. While Yasin Malik, Asiya Andrabi and other leaders have been chained in false cases, 1,500 Kashmiri black law detainees are being held under the Public Safety Act.
