King Charles inaugurates new govt with pledge for ME peace

LONDON: King Charles of Britain has inaugurated the new government of Prime Minister Keir Starmer with its legislative agenda and promise to work for peace in the Middle East.

Starmer’s Labour Party won a large majority at this month’s election in the country. King Charles read out the agenda written by the new government which stated that Britain will strive for a two-state solution to the Middle East crisis with protection for Israel and a separate state for the Palestinian.

The government will also introduce 35 bills aimed at improving the economy, besides speeding up work on major infrastructure projects and improving transport and creating jobs.

The prime minister faces a number of daunting challenges, including improving struggling public services with little room for more spending.

In an introduction to the proposed legislation, Starmer announced “the era of politics as performance and self-interest above service is over”.–Reuters
