KP Police to Purchase Modern Weapons Against Terrorists

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police have decided to procure modern weapons and advanced equipment to strengthen their capacity to combat terrorism and enhance operational effectiveness across the province.

According to police officials, the procurement plan includes the purchase of 50 Beretta sniper rifles and 100 additional sniper rifles. In total, 1,250 modern automatic weapons (TWS) will be acquired. To upgrade existing arms, rails will be purchased for 3,000 small weapons and 3,250 large weapons.

The oolice will also procure 430 thermal binoculars and 330 thermal TI cameras to improve night surveillance and operational visibility. In addition, 73 surveillance drones will be purchased, along with 14 anti-drone guns and four search drones to counter emerging security threats.

For counter-terrorism operations, 20 modern bomb disposal suits will be acquired, while 1,000 body-worn “Sparta” cameras will be purchased to support search operations and ensure transparency.

Police officials stated that 6,000 bulletproof jackets and 6,000 bulletproof helmets will be procured to enhance personnel safety. The plan also includes bulletproofing the front screens of 39 police vehicles and full bulletproofing of five double-cabin vehicles.

Moreover, the police will acquire 210 B7-level armored vehicles and an additional 1,200 operational armored vehicles. Side armoring and body fabrication of police vehicles are also included in the procurement plan.
