ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reaffirmed its stance against the use of force or economic sanctions on Iran, emphasizing that it advocates for the peaceful resolution of regional issues.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi stated that Pakistan was hopeful for the restoration of peace in the region.

Regarding trade relations between India and Europe, Andrabi said that Pakistan maintains strong ties with Europe, with bilateral trade exceeding €12 billion.

Discussions were held on India-Europe agreements, while Pakistan continues to promote investment and economic cooperation with the UAE. During a meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, both countries agreed to enhance trade and investment through flagship projects.

The spokesperson also highlighted ongoing diplomatic efforts. Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, held telephone talks with Iranian and Bangladeshi foreign ministers to discuss regional issues. High-level discussions with Ghana were conducted to strengthen bilateral relations.

The Prime Minister’s participation at the World Economic Forum in Davos included meetings with global leaders, and a subsequent UAE visit focused on investment opportunities, including talks with Etisalat on telecom investment.

Pakistan also stated that relations with the United States remain steady, following some travel advisories being lifted. Additionally, Kazakhstan’s president is expected to visit Pakistan soon, and details on proposed railway agreements between the two countries will be shared later.
