NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has called on the United Nations to grant full membership to the State of Palestine.

He made this appeal during a major conference on the Israel-Palestine two-state solution, held at the UN and hosted by Saudi Arabia and France.

During his speech, Ishaq Dar supported France’s recent recognition of Palestine and urged the international community to take similar steps. He emphasized Pakistan’s continued support for the Palestinian people’s right to have their own independent state.

He condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza, describing it as a clear violation of international law and human rights. He pointed out that over 58,000 Palestinians, including many women and children, have been killed. He said the humanitarian situation in Gaza is worsening and that there is an urgent need for a permanent ceasefire and the immediate delivery of food and medical aid.

Pakistan played an active role in the preparations for the conference, working with eight other countries and contributing ideas for practical solutions.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that the Palestinian issue has remained unresolved for more than 75 years. He said this is not only a political failure but also a failure to uphold international justice and basic human rights.
