ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has strongly rejected Indian allegations accusing Pakistan of targeting the Golden Temple, a sacred Sikh religious site, calling the claims baseless and unacceptable.
In an official statement, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “The very idea of targeting a revered site like the Golden Temple is inconceivable for Pakistan. The Indian allegations are entirely without merit and are firmly rejected.”
The spokesperson further stated that India itself targeted places of worship in Pakistan during the night between May 6 and 7. “These allegations are merely an attempt to divert attention from India’s own reprehensible actions,” the statement read.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s respect for religious freedom, the spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan is a custodian of Sikh religious heritage. “Thousands of Sikh pilgrims visit Pakistan every year. Through the Kartarpur Corridor, we provide visa-free access to Sikh yatrees from India and around the world,” the spokesperson added.
The statement reflects Pakistan’s commitment to religious harmony and counters what it describes as a politically motivated narrative from India.
