President Trump Announces US-Pakistan Oil Deal Amid Global Trade Realignment
WASHINGTON, D.C. : President Donald J. Trump has announced a landmark energy partnership between the United States and Pakistan, underscoring his administration’s aggressive push to reshape global trade. According to a social media statement on X, President Trump confirmed the finalization of a bilateral deal aimed at developing Pakistan’s vast oil reserves through U.S.-led investment and expertise.
US-Pakistan Energy Pact to Tap Untapped Oil Reserves
The President emphasized that the deal marks a new era of cooperation between Islamabad and Washington. The agreement will facilitate U.S. involvement in exploring and commercializing Pakistan’s untapped oil reserves. A leading American oil company will soon be selected to head the initiative.
“We are in the process of choosing the Oil Company that will lead this Partnership,” said President Trump. “Who knows, maybe they’ll be selling oil to India some day!”
South Korea Eyes Tariff Relief, India Faces Tough Measures
President Trump also revealed ongoing talks with South Korea regarding a proposed reduction in the existing 25% tariff on their goods. He welcomed Seoul’s offer to negotiate, stating he would evaluate the proposal later this week.
In contrast, India faced sharp criticism. Although Trump reaffirmed the U.S.-India friendship, he accused New Delhi of unfair trade practices. He cited India’s excessively high tariffs, restrictive non-monetary trade barriers, and continued military and energy dependence on Russia.
India Slapped with New 25% Tariff and Penalty
Effective August 1, India will face a new 25% tariff, along with additional penalties, due to its trade policies and strategic ties with Russia. Trump linked these measures to India’s resistance to aligning with Western positions on the Ukraine conflict.
“ALL THINGS NOT GOOD!” said the President, warning that India’s economic and strategic decisions carry consequences.
A Strategic Trade Realignment Underway
President Trump stated that other countries are also offering tariff reductions to secure better trade access to the U.S. market. He asserted that these negotiations will significantly reduce America’s trade deficit and ensure a stronger position for U.S. exports.
A detailed report on these trade developments, including the Pakistan energy agreement and India’s tariff penalties, will be released by the administration soon.
