WASHINGTON: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi here said that terrorist bases in Afghanistan were making Pakistan insecure.
Speaking at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a leading US think-tank, Mr Fatemi said: “Pakistan, with its unique geographical position and status, should not be viewed with any foreign or regional prejudice.”
He said terrorist bases in Afghanistan were making Pakistan insecure. The United States should look at Pakistan independently instead of any foreign or regional bias, he added.
Highlighting the opportunities for further development of Pakistan-US trade relations, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister said that American investors should visit Pakistan and take advantage of the opportunities available in the country.
Mr Fatemi added that despite the challenges, Pakistan remains a promising and lucrative destination for foreign investment.
Earlier, Mr Fatemi met Republican and Democrat leaders of the US Congress in Washington and held detailed discussions on Pakistan-US relations, bilateral cooperation and economic relations.
