ISLAMABAD: The Council of Common Interests (CCI), at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, rejected the plan to dig new canals from Indus River.
The meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) was attended by the four provincial chief ministers, federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif and Amir Maqbool. The meeting was attended by 25 members.
A six-point agenda was discussed at the meeting of the council. The council considered the agenda item of the government of Sindh on the project of laying new canals.
According to sources, the CCI rejected the plan to dig new canals from the Indus River. The council rejected ECNEC’s February 7 decision on the canals, and the matter will be sent back to Arsa.
It may be recalled that the meeting was scheduled to be held on May 2, but on the request of the Sindh government, the prime minister called the meeting today.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said that there is good news for the people of Sindh.
