Five released on SC orders in May 9 case arrested again

Policy in Rawalpindi say arrests were made on direction of deputy commissioner under 16 MPO.

RAWALPINDI: Police here have arrested five persons who were granted bail by Supreme Court of Pakistan a week ago in the May 9 vandalism case.

After their release, the New Town police arrested the five persons under Maintenance of Public Order ordinance. The police said the arrest order was issued by the deputy commissioner.

An FIR had been registered against Owais, Nasrullah, Saifullah, Kamran and Waqas in the New Town police station in Nay 2023. The court granted bail to the five against surety bonds of Rs50,000 each.

They were accused of vandalism at the Hamza Camp Rawalpindi on the night of May 9 and 10.

The May 9 and 10 violence erupted after the arrest of PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan in Islamabad in a corruption case.
