The PTI-led federal government has decided to bring in an ordinance to give severe punishment to those who sexually abuse children and women, Prime Minister Imran Khan said in a meeting at Bani Gala that prevention of incidents of rape must be ensured in all cases, however, delay is also harmful.
PM Imran was received by Federal Minister for Law Farough Naseem and Minister for Human Rights Shirin Mazari.
The Prime Minister directed that an ordinance be brought to give severe punishment to the perpetrators of sexual abuse. He directed that a law be enacted against the perpetrators of child and women abuse so that the victims could lodge their grievances without any fear or danger.
PM Imran said special care should be taken to protect the privacy of the affected women and children. The society must be made safe by ensuring the prevention of incidents of abuse in all cases, the premiere said.
However, refusing to allow more time for legislation on the issue, the Prime Minister said that speedy delivery of justice should be ensured through fast track cases.
Furthermore, the ordinance is likely to be tabled at the next cabinet meeting.
