ISLAMABAD: The district administration of Islamabad on Sunday night said that legal action would be taken against the organisers of PTI public meeting for violating the timings of the political gathering.
However, the PTI continued its public meeting at cattle market in Sangjani well into the midnight against the permission terms and conditions at stated that the gathering will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm.
Addressing the gathering, PTI leader and Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur criticized the government for trying to stop people from reaching the venue. Addressing the rulers, he said you have lost, and Imran Khan has won despite being in jail for over a year.
PTI leader Hammad Azhar, who had gone underground, appeared at the stage during the public gathering and in his speech called upon the people of Punjab to stand up for the cause of democracy and rule of law in the country.
PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan also attended the Jalsa.
Speaking on the occasion, PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan said that the people of Pakistan would force the rulers to return their stolen mandate. He said the party’s supporters would not accept any new case or a choice court decision against Imran Khan.
A large number of people arrived from different parts of the country to attend the public gathering. However, the federal information minister said that the PTI’s power show was a flop.
Meanwhile, Islamabad police said that scores of its personnel and the SSP Safe City Project were injured when PTI supporters pelted them with stones at Chungi No 26. The PTI activists clashed with police after they were stopped from using a blocked road to reach the venue of the Jalsa.
