IHC nullify the decision to ban PUBG

ISLAMABAD: Justice Amir Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday quashed the decision of banning PUBG and ordered that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reopen PubG Game immediately.

The apex court directed the PTA to re-decide on the online game within seven days while seeking details of complaints against PUBG and reasons for banning it.

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) had banned PUBG following a suicidal trend among youths playing violent games and complaints from citizens, a company controlling PubG in Pakistan had challenged the PTA decision.

It should be noted that PTA has decided that the ban on online game PUBG will remain in place. The authority has taken this decision after a detailed hearing on July 9 in the light of the direction of the Lahore High Court. However, Other interested parties also attended the hearing.

The PTA had sought details of PUBG sessions from PUBG management, number of users in Pakistan and controls imposed by the company, but did not receive a response from PUBG.
