ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has rejected recent allegations propagated by sections of the Indian media claiming that Pakistan used a Shaheen missile during its recent military engagement, Operation Bunyanun Marsoos.

The controversy arose following a video posted on the Indian Army’s official Twitter account, which purportedly showed the use of Pakistan’s Shaheen ballistic missile. The video was later deleted without explanation, but not before several Indian media outlets had circulated the footage and amplified the claim.

In a statement issued here Monday, the Foreign Office condemned the reports as “baseless and irresponsible,” emphasizing that the Indian army itself had failed to offer any clarification or retraction. “These unfounded allegations appear to be part of a larger disinformation campaign aimed at obscuring India’s operational setbacks in Operation Sindoor,” the statement read.

Military analysts suggest that the misinformation aligns with New Delhi’s broader narrative strategy, which includes unfounded accusations of “nuclear blackmail” by Pakistan. Officials in Islamabad argue that such narratives aim to distract from Pakistan’s effective demonstration of conventional military capabilities.

Clarifying the weapons systems used during Operation Bunyanun Marsoos, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in its press release dated May 12, 2025, that Pakistan deployed precision-guided Fatah series missiles, F1 and F2, long-range loitering munitions, and advanced precision artillery. No Shaheen missile system was employed during the operation, according to ISPR.

The Foreign Office warned that the dissemination of unverified and provocative content by segments of the Indian media not only endangers regional stability but also undermines the credibility of professional military institutions.
