No respite from pneumonia cases; 13 more children die in 24 hours

Over 230 children have died of disease in less than one month, say officials.

LAHORE: Pneumonia cases are still rising in Punjab with health department officials reporting that 13 more children died of the disease in the last 24 hours in the province.

The health department officials said that during the last 24 hours, 1250 new cases were reported from different parts of the province while Lahore reported 130 cases with one death.

According to the officials, as many as 233 children have died of pneumonia in the province during by the last 25 days while the total number of cases this season stood at over 12720.

Health experts say the prolonged dry spell snd cold wave has hampered efforts to check the disease.

They said the government should take emergency measures to contain the cases in the province.
