PESHAWAR: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet in Peshawar on Monday evening for sighting of the crescent of Ramazan 1445 Hijri.
Chairman of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad will chair the meeting. Meetings of zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committees will also be held at their respective places and report sighting of th moon to the central committee.
Ramazan began in Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries on Sunday and it is expected that the holy month will start in Pakistan on Tuesday (tomorrow). Meanwhile, retailers have jacked up prices of all essential commodities ahead of Ramazan.
This is despite the fact hat the provincial governments have claimed that a mechanism has been put in place to take action against hoarders and those involved in overcharging. The federal government has announced to increase the amount to provide subsidy on essential items to poor people from utility stores from Rs7.5 billion to Rs12.5 billion.
