WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern ultimatum to the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, giving them until Sunday at 6:00 PM to accept a proposed Gaza ceasefire agreement.

Describing it as Hamas’s last opportunity, Trump warned that failure to comply would result in serious consequences, and added that agreeing to the deal could help save the lives of Hamas fighters.

Trump also urged Palestinian civilians to evacuate Gaza City and move to safer areas, suggesting that military escalation could follow if the ceasefire is rejected.

Earlier this week, President Trump announced a 20-point Gaza peace proposal during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming that all Muslim and Arab nations had agreed to the plan.

However, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman expressed reservations, stating that many elements of the plan require clarification and further negotiation, particularly concerning the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also voiced concerns, stating in the National Assembly that the proposed points released by the U.S. were not identical to the draft originally discussed. According to Dar, eight Muslim countries had jointly drafted a version of the peace plan, but Trump’s final release had significant changes.

“This is not the draft we prepared,” Dar said, adding that the Foreign Office has already briefed the government on the discrepancies. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the original proposal agreed upon by the coalition of Muslim nations.

Dar also criticized the international community for its failure to respond effectively to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. “People are dying of hunger,” he said. “The United Nations, the European Union, and other global institutions have failed to establish peace in the region.”
