29 passengers killed as bus falls into ravine
Bus was going from Rawalpindi to Azad Kashmir when it fell into a ravine in hilly area of Kahuta, police say.
RAWALPINDI: As many as 29 passengers lost their lives and three others were injured when a bus they were travelling in fell into a ravine near Rawalpindi on Sunday.
Police said that 32 passengers were travelling in the bus en route to Azad Kashmir form Rawalpindi. The deceased and the injured belong to Azad Kashmir. The bus met with the accident near Pana bridge in the hilly area of Kahuta. However, the cause of the accident could not be ascertained.
Local people told media that they retrieved the dead bodies and the injured on their own as no rescue or any other held could reach the hilly area on time.
According to the Kahuta police station house officer Muhammad Zaka, the accident occurred in the jurisdiction of Kahuta and police and rescue officials had reached the site.
