Catalonia introduces new financial assistance scheme for small business

Barcelona: The government of the Spanish province of Catalonia has introduced a new financial aid scheme for low-income small businesses and freelancers.

Under the financial assistance scheme introduced by the provincial government, small business owners with autonomy will be given a sum of 2,000 euros. Such people will be able to apply for the grant from Monday, November 9.

The scheme aims to offset business losses and economic losses due to sanctions imposed in the second wave of the Corona epidemic. The Catalan government has allocated a whopping 20 million euros to help 10,000 people.

Applicants for this scheme will have to file tax returns with a total income of 35,000 euros or less, while the applicant’s income during the first quarter of 2020 will be less than 13,125 euros.

Furthermore, businessmen who have 6 or more employees and whose previous tax returns show an annual income of more than 35,000 euros are not eligible for the scheme.
