NEW YORK: Pakistan has warned the international community that there would be no durable peace in the world unless international conflicts such as Gaza and Kashmir are resolved.
Addressing a session of the Future Summit at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Pakistan’s defense minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the Future Pact 100 could be meaningful if international issues are resolved in accordance with the wishes of the people of the conflict zones.
He said that besides the burning disputes, the developing nations faced financial constraints and the United Nations should work to facilitate them in getting loans on easy conditions. At present, the conditions for taking loans and their repayment are against the interests of the poor nations.
The defense minister has arrived in New York in a delegation of prime minister Shehbaz Sharif to attend the annual session of the UN General Assembly.
He also said that there was a need for ensuring an end to digital divide and putting in place a rationalized data governance. Moreover, countries need to put in place measures to check the negative impacts of Artificial Intelligence, he added.
