Imran wants party to adopt proactive approach: Marwat

Sends message to core committee to convene workers convene starting from JP.

RAWALPINDI: A team of lawyers representing former prime minister Imran Khan met him on Thursday for the first time after he was shifted to the Adiala jail from the district jail of Attock.

Talking to media outside the Adiala jail after meeting Imran, one of the lawyers, Sher Afzal Khan Marwat said Khan was in high spirit and had sent some directions to the core committee of the PTI.

He said Imran has ordered the party to convene workers’ conventions, first in the province of Khyber Pakthunkhwa, to start preparations for the forthcoming general elections.

He said that Imran Khan was of the view that the trial of the cipher case would be conducted in a way similar to the Toshakhana case against him in which he was sentenced to three years imprisonment on August 5.

He was also not sure if the election would be held as planned and ordered his party to adopt a proactive approach to pressure the government to hold the election without delay.

He also called upon his party to vigorously run a campaign in electronic and social media to prepare the public for the polls.

About the facilities in the jail, the lawyer said Imran was being kept in a C class barrack.

The PTI chief complained that he was not being provided space for walk and was allowed to use a 10 feet track for the activity while in Attock jail he was free to walk on a ling track, said the lawyer.

He also said that Imran Khan would be provided a TV by Thursday night.
