KARAK: District Police Officer (DPO) Karak Irfanullah said the incident took place in the Latambar area, where a policeman on duty with the polio team was shot dead by unidentified gunmen. A search operation has been launched while an anti-polio drive is underway.
Inspector General of Police (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr Sanaullah Abbasi said that the culprits who martyred the policeman would be arrested. He said that Pakistan would be made polio free soon. Pakistan was being praised at the international level for eradicating polio, the IG mentioned.
He said that all possible steps have been taken for the security of the polio campaign and the police have made sacrifices for the safety of the polio team. The IG said that a policeman guarding the polio team in Karak was martyred. However, the accused who martyred the policeman will also be arrested.
