KARACHI: Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal inaugurated Pakistan’s first locally manufactured ventilator during a ceremony held at the Karachi Expo Centre.

Speaking to the media, the minister said that previously ventilators were imported from abroad, but now Pakistan has achieved the capability to produce them domestically. “In difficult times, the nation unites and performs remarkably,” he stated.

Kamal highlighted that the licensing process for medical machinery has been moved online, reducing opportunities for corruption and delays that were common under the old paper-based system.

“If we use our powers positively, no external force can harm us,” he added, emphasizing that the Prime Minister is fully supporting the health sector.

The federal health minister stressed the need to strengthen healthcare delivery systems, saying that district administrations must play their role to make the sector more effective. “We are working day and night to improve the healthcare system,” he said.

He also pointed out public misconceptions regarding vaccines, noting that “some people call vaccines a foreign conspiracy, while in fact, vaccination is a globally accepted way to prevent diseases.”

Mustafa Kamal further mentioned that hospitals in Karachi fall under the provincial government, not the federal one, but announced that the federal government is building the Jinnah Medical Complex in Islamabad and plans to construct another similar complex in Karachi.
