KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that the people of Pakistan must rise against Israel without looking towards their rulers who have failed to act against the atrocities of the Zionist state on Palestinians.
He was addressing the “Down with Israel Million March” held in Karachi, which witnessed a large public turnout. Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that the purpose of the gathering was to send a message to the people of Gaza that they are not alone — the people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with the Palestinians.
He alleged that the rulers of the Islamic world have become puppets of the United States and make decisions that go against the sentiments of their people. “We must unite and become a flood against Israel,” he declared.
The JUI-F leader called Israel “a dagger plunged into the back of the Arabs” and accused global powers of supporting actions that lack any legal legitimacy. He stated, “In 1917, Jews inhabited only 2% of the land in Palestine, and by 1948, that figure rose to 6%.”
He dismissed the narrative that Palestinians sold their land to Jews as propaganda, adding that Britain had a history of leaving behind conflicts wherever it went — with Kashmir being a prime example.
Maulana Fazl also expressed deep regret over the silence of the international community and Muslim leaders in the face of Israeli aggression and the killing of innocent women and children.
