Niamey Declaration of the CFM reiterates the OIC’s principled stance on the position of AJ&K dispute

Niamey Declaration of the Council of Foreign Ministers Reiterates the OIC’s Principled Position on Jammu and Kashmir Dispute, Office of the Foreign Affairs issued a statement.

According to FO, on the conclusion of the 47th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Niger, the meeting’s Chair issued the Niamey Declaration. While, the Declaration explicitly reiterated “the OIC’s principled position on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute for a peaceful settlement in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions”, as per the statement.

However, the inclusion of Jammu and Kashmir dispute in the Niamey Declaration – being an important part of the CFM’s outcome documents – is yet another manifestation of the OIC’s consistent support to the Kashmir Cause, added in the press release.

Furthermore, India last year on August 5 unilaterally annexed Article 370, and 35-A from its constitution and imposed lockdown in the diputed territory.
