Punjab Govt decided to ban on Basant

The Punjab government has imposed a complete ban on Basant celebrations across the province. Strict action will be taken against the sale of kite flying equipment and violation of the ban.

Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja called on Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar in Lahore, in which political issues were discussed. The meeting also discussed proposals for giving limited and conditional permission to celebrate Basant. A complete ban was imposed on Basant across Punjab.

Sardar Usman Bazdar ordered to ensure implementation of the law banning kite flying. Strict action should be taken against those who make, sell and fly kites. It should be noted that in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Sahiwal. There were reports of preparations for the Basant celebrations in the second week of February.
