ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday visited the Dasu dam site in Upper Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhrunkhwa and said the government will further enhance security arrangements for Chinese engineers, workers and their families in Pakistan.
“Our friendship will march forward and enemies of this friendship will be defeated comprehensively,” he told the over 700 Chinese workers at the site.
The prime minister also expressed condolence with the Chinese nationals over the killing of five engineers in a terrorist attack on March 26 in Besham.
He said once the inquiry report by the committee was concluded, exemplary punishment will be given to the perpetrators.
He said the security of the Chinese brothers and sisters was our responsibility as they support us in making Pakistan prosperous and progressive.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong said that the prime minister visited the embassy and reassured security for the Chinese nationals. He also expressed gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for expressing solidarity, adding that they were ready to work together to further build their strategic partnership with Pakistan.
Federal ministers Amir Muqam, Attaullah Tarar, Chairman WAPDA Lt Gen. (retd) Sajjad Ghani, Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, members of the Chinese company and senior officials were also present on the occasion.
