ISLAMABAD: A court in Islamabad ordered the police to arrest Khyber Pakthunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur and produce him in the court on Thursday in an eight-year-old case.
In October 216 Islamabad registered against Gandapur who was at the time minister of revenue in KP. The police claimed that that had to recovered five Kalashnikovs, six magazines along with alcohol from Gandapur outside Imran Khan’s residence in Banigala.
The court had later granted bail to Gandapur on multiple occasions.
The district and session judge of Islamabad Shaista Khan Kundi on July 29 had summoned Gandapur, now the chief minister of Khyber Pakthunkhwa, for recording his statement.
When the court took up the hearing of the matter on Wednesday, the chief minister of KP did not appear in the court. His lawyers requested the court to grant him exemption from personal hearing. However, the judge rejected the plea and deffered the hearing for a few hours with the direction to the counsel to ensure the presence of their client. However, the accused did not turned up.
The court then directed the station house officer of Bhara Kahu to arrest and produce the accused person before the court on Thursday.
One of the lawyers of Gandapur told court that there was a flood-like situation in Peshawar due to which his client could not attend the court. Another lawyer claimed that that his client was feeling unwell.
