Dr Amjad Saqib appointed as chairman BISP

ISLAMABAD: Social entrepreneur, development practitioner and former civil servant and author Dr Amjad Saqib has been appointed as the chairman of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

The appointment was approved by President Dr. Arif Alvi under Section 5(III) of the Benazir Income Support Program Act 2010.

Dr Saqib is the founder and executive director of Akhuwat Foundation which is the world’s largest Islamic microfinance organization that provides interest-free loans to the most deserving segments of society. He has been nominated for 2022 Nobel Peace Prize for his work for poverty alleviation.
