High court orders release of Imran, wife in Toshakhana case

Accountability court on January 31 had sentenced couple to 14 years' imprisonment.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Monday suspended the sentence of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana corruption case.

A two-member bench of the high court headed by the chief justice ordered the release of the former prime minister and his wife.

The couple was  handed down 14 years’ imprisonment on January 31 this year by an accountability court in Islamabad. The high court suspended the sentence and ordered the release of the couple.

The court said appeal against the verdict in the Toshakhana case would be taken up after Eidul Fitr.
