KARACHI: Iran’s Naval Commander Shahram Irani has said that the peace drills held in Karachi sent out a big message for the whole world.
A ceremony in connection with the Iranian Revolution was held at the Iranian Consulate in Karachi which was also attended by Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Reza Amiri-Maqam, Iranian Consul General Hassan Nouriyan, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Karachi, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and special guest Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori.
In an interview after the ceremony, the Iranian Navy commander said that our region is very important in the world in terms of geo-economics, geostrategic and geopolitics.
Admiral Shahram said that the region is also important because more than 60 percent of the world trade takes place from this region.
About the participation of the Iranian fleet in the peace drills, he said, “Peace Exercise 2025 has sent a strong message to all countries that we can conduct exercises together and we can protect all routes.”
“The message is that we can also carry out maritime security,” he said.”
Earlier, addressing the ceremony, the commander of the Iranian Navy congratulated the governor and the chief minister of Sindh on the successful conduct of the peace exercises and peace dialogue and said that Iran and Pakistan are countries that are happy with each other’s achievements. The conduct of these exercises is not only an honour for Pakistan but also a success for us.
Speaking on the other hand, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori said that the Iranian revolution is a beacon of hope for the oppressed all over the world and the founder of the revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini, will be remembered all over the world.
He said that due to the extraordinary efforts of the Iranian Ambassador and Consul General, Pakistani businessmen and visitors get extraordinary facilities in Iran. Because of their role, these relationships can be increased by 100 percent.
Mr Tesori said that the agreements reached during the visit of former President Ebrahim Raisi to Pakistan would be implemented for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
Iranian Consul General Hassan Nouryan said the day of the revolution is the most important day in Iran’s recent history, noting that 46 years ago the Pahlavi regime was overthrown and an Islamic system was established in which the government was accountable to the people, not to foreigners.
He paid tributes to those who sacrificed their lives for the revolution.
