Special session of AJK assembly to discuss Indian court verdict

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar will also attend session, says AJK premier.

ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) legislative assembly is going to hold a special session to discuss the situation evolving in occupied Kashmir after the verdict of Indian Supreme Court on the occupied territory.

The decision was taken at a meeting between Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar and the prime minister of AJK Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq in Islamabad.

Indian Supreme Court has dismissed petitions filed against the abolition of the special status of occupied Kashmir under Article 370 by the Modi regime.

The court in its unanimous judgement stated that the grant of the special status to the area was a temporary arrangement. The court also directed the election commission to hold election in Kashmir by September 30, 2024.

Kakar said Pakistan has already rejected the decision of India’s top court to uphold the Indian government’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the Kashmir issue was pending for the last seven decades and is on the UN agenda. This issue can only be settled in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations and the aspirations of the Kashmiris.

He said India had no right to go against international laws and take one-sided actions in the garb of the court decisions. India on August 5, 2019, illegally revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir aimed at changing the demographics of the valley. The Modi regime in India always play such dirty game before general elections to win support.

But Kashmir is not a domestic issue rather relates to the millions of people whose right to self-determination was to be given to them. The legislative assembly of AJK will discuss how to deal with the emerging situation in Kashmir in teh wke of the controversial decision of India.
