Pakistan heading towards financial stability: Aurangzeb

Says IMF team expected to visit Pakistan in middle of next month to hold talks on a new loan agreement.

WASHINGTON: Finance Minister Aurangzeb Khan here said that Pakistan was heading towards financial stability due to the clear vision of the government for revival of the economy.

Addressing a news conference in Washington along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Masood Khan, the minister said that his visit to the US and talks with the IMF and other officials was very positive.

The minister was of the view that the economic reforms agenda of the country had been ignored for decades and it was about time to implement it for the health of the economy. He also said that an IMF team was expected to visit Pakistan in the middle of next month to hold talks on a loan agreement.

“The contours of the new programme will shape up later. We will start getting into granularity of the programme by mid-May,” he said.
