Pakistan Rice Exporters Explore Opportunities in U.S.

NEW YORK: A high-level delegation of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP), led by its Chairman Mr. Faisal Jahangir, commenced its engagements in New York with a targeted market visit to key importers and distributors in Maspeth, Queens.

The delegation, accompanied by the Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Mr. Aamer Ahmed Atozai, and Trade & Investment Counsellor, Mr. Adnan Mahmood Awan, held meetings with leading U.S.-based firms including Advance Foods, New Reliance Traders, South Asian Food Inc, Fatima Foods, Zara Foods, and Bawarchi.

Pakistan is globally recognized for its premium rice varieties, particularly Basmati and long-grain rice, and remains a reliable supplier to international markets. The purpose of the visit is to deepen understanding of U.S. market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and buyer preferences, while identifying avenues to enhance exports.

During the interactions, U.S. importers and distributors shared valuable insights regarding pricing competitiveness, quality expectations, and compliance-related requirements. The REAP delegation engaged in constructive discussions, addressing concerns and exploring opportunities for strengthening supply linkages.

The visit marks an important step in fostering closer collaboration between Pakistani exporters and U.S. market stakeholders, aimed at expanding Pakistan’s footprint in the highly competitive U.S. rice market.
