Pakistan & Sri Lanka Conclude Counter-Terrorism Drill

TARBELA: Pakistan and Sri Lanka concluded their joint counter-terrorism exercise, ‘Shake Hands-2’, at Tarbela.

The two-week exercise, which began on April 27, 2026, involved personnel from the Pakistan Army and the Sri Lankan Army.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the exercise included participation from the Special Services Group (SSG) of Pakistan and the Sri Lankan Special Forces.

The GOC of the Special Services Group attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, while Major General Ajith Abeyawardana represented Sri Lanka at the event.

The ISPR statement highlighted that during the exercise, troops demonstrated the highest standards of professional skills.

The primary objective of the exercise was to enhance counter-terrorism operations through joint drills, techniques, and procedures. Additionally, the exercise aimed to strengthen the historical military ties between the two friendly countries.
