ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a free, fair and peaceful electoral process in Gilgit-Baltistan, stating that all necessary measures will be taken to support democracy.
The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where the overall law and order and security situation in the country was reviewed in detail.
During the meeting, the interior minister briefed the prime minister on special security arrangements made for Eid-ul-Adha to safeguard citizens and public places. He also provided a comprehensive update on preparations for the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan elections.
According to the briefing, a detailed and comprehensive security plan has been formulated to maintain peace and ensure a safe environment for voters during the elections.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Interior, law enforcement agencies, and security forces in maintaining stability and protecting the public.
He also praised the interior minister and his team for their arrangements regarding election security.
The prime minister reiterated that the government will continue to take all possible steps to uphold the democratic process in the country.
