PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi has strongly criticized the federal government, alleging that the province’s rights are being undermined and essential resources like gas and wheat are being withheld.

Addressing a parliamentary party meeting, Afridi stated that the upcoming provincial budget will be people-friendly and reflect the vision of the party’s founding leadership. He emphasized that the budget will include public welfare projects unlike those seen before.

He further claimed that the federal government had cut Rs12 billion allocated for merged districts this year and that outstanding dues exceeding Rs4,500 billion are owed to the province.

Afridi added that efforts are underway to unite political parties to collectively raise a voice for the province’s rights and resources.

The chief minister said the strong participation of lawmakers in the meeting demonstrated unity within the party, despite opposition attempts to create divisions.

Afridi also expressed concern over the health of the party’s founding leader, alleging that the federal government’s rigid stance had affected his condition. He demanded that the leader be allowed proper medical treatment in the presence of family and doctors of his choice.

He warned that the current treatment of the province would no longer be tolerated.
