ISLAMABAD: Retired judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan Tasaduq Hussain Jilani will probe the recent allegations levelled by six justices of Islamabad High Court against intelligence agencies.
The federal cabinet has approved the appointment of the retired judge after a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa yesterday.
The six judges of the high court in a letter to the Supreme Judicial Council levelled allegations of intimidation and video recording by the intelligence agencies to pressure them in different cases.
They also demanded an inquiry into their allegations as well as that narrated by another judge who was sacked in 2018 for accusing a premier intelligence agency of interfering in judicial matters.
A full court of the Supreme Court has also been formed on the allegations of the six high court judges.
